Brokeback Mountain Rocks The Golden Globes

This evening at The Golden Globe Awards, Brokeback Mountain took in four major awards. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Song. This is huge for this film and a truly remarkable sign of what's to come.

Other huge highlights for the GLBT community came from Philip Seymour Hoffman ("Capote") for Best Dramatic Actor and Felicity Huffman ("Transamerica") for Best Dramatic Actress.

Fact: 46% of all Golden Globe wins -- 11 out of 24 categories -- came from LGBT inclusive projects. What an amazing night.

Having seen this movie, yes it has gay people in it but it could just as well have been Romeo and Juliet. It is a love story about society denying people their right to love. At heart, it is not about gays or anything like that, it is a love story pure and simple. It has many universal lessons and is certainly worthy of the praise its getting.
