Desperate Housewives: The Gay Kiss



The wingnuts are all up-in-arms about the kiss between the two boys last night on Desperate Housewives. They're all over the ABC message boards spreading filth and hypocrisy. It's so funny how they all love the show when it has infidelity, murder, suicide, scantily clad women and blackmail... but WHOA!!! A gay kiss? No way!

One post from the message board with the title "Disgusting homosexuals" reads:

How come ABC and other mainstream media organizations continue to force homosexuality of 2% of the country down our throats? Maybe it represents the majority of the entertainment companies. It is easy to turn channels and we will if that storyline continues.


Give me a break people. If you are so concerned, then take your indecisive, pick-and-choose morals somewhere else. By the way, I'm pretty sure that the 2% figure is a bit higher. A bit over 10%. So, I assume because the percentage of men who admit to cheating on their spouse is nearly 45%, (via New York Times poll taken in 2000) that makes the infidelity on Desperate Housewives much more acceptable? There was my rant.

So anyway - in case you missed it...

Well, if you count out all the characters we see regularly throughout the show, it's only 1 gay character compared to more than 10 straight characters. So it's not like they're taking half the show and making them all gay-- it's a small percentage of the characters. And it's a smaller percentage than the 2% they claim (and I agree with you about that being higher).

And the fact remains that in a neighborhood, you're likely to have at least one person who is gay. It just happens to be Bree's son in this show.

we can't help it if the show chose to include reality in their storyline.. helloooooo! welcome to the real world... it happens even outside the television... viewers just need to be open-minded that gays are here to stay and critiquing the show badly because of a man-to-man kiss can never change reality

We have seen thousands of kisses many times before on desperate houswives, and this kiss was just between two Teenage boys, and if you have watched the show earlier, you knew they were gay. So if you dont like it, switch it.
