Gay Adoption: The Next Republican Election Strategy
As the leaders of the extreme right continue to look for new ideas to GOTV, gays and lesbians continue to be scapegoat #1. It looks as if they are positioning gay adoption to be one of the big issues for 2008 or even for 2006.
USA Today:
Efforts to ban gays and lesbians from adopting children are emerging across the United States as a second front in the culture wars that began during the 2004 elections over same-sex marriage.
Steps to pass laws or secure November ballot initiatives are underway in at least 16 states, adoption, gay rights and conservative groups say.

Last year in Oregon there were a few attempts that didn't go very far... will we see it again?
Like the blog. I always fail to find a good reason to prevent gay adoption. Conservatives cannot give one, I think, because there is not one good reason. Let us just hope Democrats can fight the false ideas they put into the mainstream on this gay adoption issue come Election '08 or even Election '06.

I personally think it is B.S. Why should it matter if us gays/lesbians want to get either married or adopt a child(ren). We are human, we should be able to love anyone and anything just as straight people do. I have a sister that has adopted 6 wonderful boys and does a great job loving and raising them on her own. And her boys love her very, very much. I think the gov't should worry more about the war in Iraq and other things. I thought this country was based on equality for all!!!

I have to ask. What does GOTV mean? I hope it means "Goof On Troglodytic Voters".
Not that I advocate their positions, but I think the "mindset" of these homophobic Republicans is that allowing gay people to adopt will let them to turn the child gay (not that there's anything wrong with that! sorry, had to). They believe that being gay is not genetic but instead a lifestyle choice because in their view that would prove God's fallibility, homosexuality being a sin and a person cannot be damned to hell by birth.
It's all very stupefying but hopefully this helps you get an idea of what those idiots are thinking.

homosexuals should have all the equal rights just like non homosexuals...
i think that people shouldnt judge homosexuals because it is there life and it isnt like they are intruding on the non homosexuals...
i have had a friend that ive known for four years and he is gay.. i know how much things he puts up with from other people judging him..ok so he wasnt born gay like most people say ther are, but he was sexually abused by a male. some people may be born homosexual, and some may choose to be but the point is, its there choice and they should be what they want to be. EQUALITY&FREEDOM to all people right? then why shouldnt homosexuals be able to adopt or even get married? at least he is able to stand up for what he is though.
