I'm so tired of this. All I want to do is have the ability to properly provide for my family on my own.
If this doesn't work, then when my wife and I have children, I'm so tempted to just advise her to dump her job and go on welfare so she can more easily be a stay at home mom. We can use the $$$ from the state to buy financial and medical POA's, trusts, guardianships, and Living Wills.
Hey if you can't be included in the system, why not?

Seems like that could work, except as I understand it, the State would consider two women in a relationship who live together a "family unit" for the purposes of denying state provided benefits like the Oregon Health Plan and food stamps, etc. I know of a woman who was on the Oregon health plan because her daugter is chronically ill and needed round the clock care and her partner's employer would not cover her spouse or child, but was then booted after the state decided that they were a family unit. It's messed up.

But you don't get the rights of a family unit? According to 36, we are NOT a family unit, and not ever allowed to be.
It IS messed up. The last resort will be to milk the Oregon property I've invested in for every dime I can and take all that equity and our working skills out of the state (and country) and immigrate to Canada. But we'll see.
So far we're in a position to where neither of these options are necessary. But I will try the former if the need comes up. Who is the state to say she's not my room-mate?
Your wording for the ad is eloquent as usual. Thanks for doing this. I don't hear about legislation that actually affects my life in the "news".

I cannot take credit for the wording of ad :) BRO provided me with the content and I just laid it out - a group of very talented and dedicated people over at BRO I must say.
As far as your other comments - hopefully the person who left that comment will revisit and respond.

Bryan--way tough to read. Any way you could put it into a pdf or a linkable image file? I can't even see the names of the republicans who signed!
I'd like to see your handiwork close up...

I know, sorry about that - it's 21" tall at full size. I'll add a link to a larger scale image than the one above though.

(I didn't have any trouble reading this -- the Firefox browser handled it perfectly.)
But I think it's wordy, way too wordy.
And why not have nice pictures of human beings in loving, committed relationships?
